ICAR Awarded AFC India Team for Outstanding Performance in NAIP, Godda, Jharkhand

The sub project “Upscaling livelihood of forest based communities through improved farming and enhanced support systems in Godda district of Jharkhand” under Component 3: Research on Sustainable Rural Livelihood Security (SRLS) of the National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP) was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Performance in the Regional Committtee No. IV meeting on 21-22 Sept., 2012 at ICAR RC for ER, Patna, Bihar. The overall objective of NAIP is to “facilitate an accelerated and sustainable transformation of the Indian agriculture to support poverty alleviation and income generation through collaborative development”. The sub project of NAIP in Godda envisaged enhancing land productivity of communities living in forests and forest fringe areas and also improves their livelihood through supporting income generation activities. The project targets 3,000 households to be covered through about 200 Self Help Groups and enhance their monthly income by Rs.840/- per beneficiary.
